A&H Architecture

Kenwood Remodeling

After having previously enjoyed living in a former home of the Architect, the homeowners enlisted the help of Albertsson Hansen to create a more modern way of living in an early 20th century home. A precise set of limited architectural interventions and interior design strategies were employed to reflect the owner’s love of bold life-affirming color and modern design. The original house felt dark and outdated in several areas and did not meet the family’s functional goals. In order to address the lifestyle of this young family, an unheated side porch was transformed into a mudroom/playroom/home office, the kitchen was given a facelift and a new island, the master bath was fully remodeled, flow and fenestration were addressed in the master bedroom, and new furniture, colors, lighting, fabrics, and window treatments were all introduced. The finished project presents a bright, fresh, reinterpreted version of itself. All of this was done to support the busy, active life of a family with two young children.
